Pipe Material Inventory

Ogden City Water Utility has gathered the information about water service line material for homes and businesses to comply with recent revisions to the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Lead and Copper Rule. These revisions aim to protect public health and reduce exposure to lead in drinking water.

The water service line inventory for Ogden City has been classified as non-lead; meaning there are no lead or galvanized service lines downstream of lead pipe requiring replacement. The system was determined to be non-lead by performing a detailed review of all available records including but not limited to the following: Aerial/historical imagery, previous service line material evaluations, plumbing codes and records, water system records, construction as-built drawings, water distribution system inspections, operation and maintenance records, service line repairs and replacements, installation and construction dates, and assessor records. The following software is being utilized to manage data and water service connections: ESRI ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel.

The Minimum Service Line Verification Method/Predictive Modeling was used to achieve a 95% level of statistical confidence.
• A validation pool was established by determining the minimum number of validations required.
• The selection was based on the randomly selected procedure outlined in the State’s guidance document.
• The randomly selected investigation pool was verified by field inspection (meter pit verification, customer data, customer survey service line evaluations, verification of service line coming into home).
